Overview

This course will cover effictive plannning and management traffic control at work zone and public safety.

* Please note that course funding is not applicable for this course.

  5. Placement of warning devices and safety distances
  6. Procedures in effective lane closure


Course Objective

By the end of the course, the participants will learn proper management for traffic control and road safety as well as proper planning base on previous case studies


For Whom

For all workers involved in roadwork, traffic control working on / near / adjacent to the road or construction site access (especially those involved in roadwork projects / building construction traffic controllers)


Entry Requirement

Singaporean citizen, Permanent Resident or Holder of Valid employment pass/ work permit. Must be physically and mentally fit for the training. Workers who need to conduct traffic control in their course of work.

Written Assessment – 60%
Practical Assessment – Competent (Group Role Play)
Learner must pass BOTH

Upon successful completion of the course, a card from Global Training Services will be issued to all successful participants.

Coretrade
Construction Registration of Tradesmen, or CoreTrade, is a registration scheme administered by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) for skilled and experienced construction personnel in the various key construction trades.

As MOM require, all construction firms must have at least 10% of their work permit holders (WPHs) to be qualified as “Higher Skilled” R1 workers. Construction personnel registered under the Multi-skilling Scheme are qualified as “Higher Skilled” R1 workers under the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)’s Foreign Worker Levy Scheme.

2) Have a minimum of six (6) years of construction experience in Singapore;
3) Completed 120 hours of training in approved safety-related courses.
Or
1) One (1) Skills Evaluation Certificate [ SEC/SEC(K) ]
2) Have a minimum of six (6) years of construction experience in Singapore.
3) Obtained WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health.

For the construction sector, the maximum number of years a worker can work in Singapore on a Work Permit is as follows:
NTS (India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Philippines), PRC (China) in Basic Skilled – 14 years
NTS (India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Philippines), PRC (China) in Higer Skilled – 26 years

The Direct R1 Scheme was implemented, on 1 Sep 2015, to provide another alternative pathway for the industry to upgrade their construction workers. It allows those who pass the Skills Evaluation Certificate (Knowledge), SEC(K), test at higher skill level and draw a fixed monthly salary of $1,600 or more, to be considered as R1 (Higher Skilled) workers; under the Ministry of Manpower Tiered-Levy Scheme.

Once the test end, BCA will release the result to ATTC after 10 working days, and the certificate will be take around 1 month to receieved. After received the cert, HR may proceed to apply the acknowledgement notice (AN) for upgrading. Its take 14 to 28 working days. When AN is ready, company may monitor the levy rate as it is auto lower the levy.
